Join Great Lakes Science Center in celebrating America’s 250^th anniversary and Ohio’s contributions to America’s film industry with a special showing of ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 11.

The event is part of Ohio Goes to the Movies, a statewide celebration showcasing films created by Ohio actors, directors, writers, composers or shot on location in the state, ranging from independent films to Hollywood blockbusters. 

Directed by Cleveland natives Anthony and Joe Russo, the city’s historic architecture, industrial sites and public spaces can be seen throughout the film. Local filming locations included the West Shoreway, Lakeview Cemetery Dam, the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Western Reserve Historical Society. 

The evening will start with a panel discussion focused on the starring role Cleveland has played in movies ranging from ‘The Deer Hunter’ to 2025’s ‘Superman’ and the economic benefits the city gains when Hollywood comes to town, followed by a special showing of ‘Captain America: Winter Solider’  in the Cleveland Clinic DOME Theater.
